Finding magazine

Mum called me on the weekend to say that the painting she did that won the highly commended award got printed in this months Australian Artist. I had looked in 3 newsagents but found nothing. Just happened by another newsagent today on the way to get my lunch and lo and behold - two copies. Bought them and have now emailed all and sundry a scan of the relevant page. :)
Also, arrived at work to find my boss had left a little lipbalm in a cupcake shaped box and a thank you note. :-)))
During court, waiting, waiting this morning, the security guard saw my scribbling in my journal and asked me about it - they kept a journal a while back as well so we shared tips, and then he was talking about sketching so I showed him I also sketched. These little meetings are good. I ordered a book a while back and not sure where I have put it, but it is called Melinda Blau and Karen Fingerman, "Consequential Strangers: The Power of People Who Don't Seem to Matter ... But Really Do" - and is about how it is important to the psyche to have these meetings, to connect at a small level. We spend a lot of time wishing for people who really understand and know us, but sideline all these people who know tiny parts of us for a moment.
