Mussorgsky - Pictures at an Exhibition

So tomorrow night I will be off to see Nikolai Demidenko (pianist) in concert. I decided to prep by listening to the subject piece on YouTube tonight. I played the start of two and found then clunky until I came across a rendering of it by Maria Yudina. What can I describe it as but a loving caress, even on the promenades.

It is funny to me that I scan through YouTube on these classics, looking for just the right player. And yet with pop music, I am wary of cover versions, and at times so picky about the right version by the same artist (eg only the album version is 'right' sounding, and not the live, instrumental).

One example is Nick Cave, in concert some time in the 90s at Festival Hall in Brisbane, when Blixa Bargeld was still in the band. They played Loverman and for me, with Blixa screaming this infernal devil cat scream, it was the beginning and the end of this song for me. The album version is a zero.
